Five-time Unlimited hydroplane national champion Steve David is not only an amazing boat racer, but he’s also an accomplished realtor in the state of Florida. A resident of Lighthouse Point, David has been racing and testing boats for decades and also served as president of the American Power Boat Association from 1996-1998.

The 2011 season will mark David's 11th season as driver of the Madison, Ind.-owned Oh Boy! Oberto hydroplane. Dick DeBartolo has been associated with Powerboat magazine for more than 40 years. His column has run in every issue since February 1970. For more than a dozen of those 40-plus years, DeBartolo was part of the Powerboat Test Team. Being a native New Yorker, he’s never owned a car in his life, but has owned 26 boats.

DeBartolo has two other careers—one as MAD Magazine’s Maddest Writer. He holds the record for being in every issue for 406 consecutive MAD magazines, a record that continues to grow. DeBartolo also is a gadget freak! As the driver of one of offshore racing’s most successful and recognizable race boats—Miss GEICO—Marc Granet has established several endurance speed records and won multiple world championships, including the 2009 Super Boat International Turbine class title in Key West, Fla., in the team’s 50-foot Mystic catamaran.

Captain of the No. 77 Lucas Oil SOC team and representing Lucas Oil with the longest running sponsorship in offshore racing, Nigel Hook currently competes in the worldwide Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) endurance series, the Grand Prix of the Sea. A native of Homestead, Fla., near Miami, Shaun Torrente has been competing on the water for more than half his life. The 31-year-old Formula 1 tunnel boat driver started racing boats at age 14 and has conquered the ranks along the way. He’s claimed three SST-45 class championships, two SST-120 national championships and was the 2009 F1 ChampBoat Series champion.

Racing internationally on the F1 H2O World Championship circuit for Team Sweden in 2011, the Florida State University graduate has been selected to the American Power Boat Association (APBA) Hall of Champions.
