Racing Community Mourns The Loss of Competitor PDF Print E-mail

b58s6041.jpgA memorial service was held this week for Kevin Ladd, a rising star on the tunnel-boat circuit who died in a snowmobile accident. He was 35.

Ladd was killed Feb. 15 while snowmobiling in Michigan. Authorities said Ladd was leading a group of friends on a ride when his snowmobile struck a tree.

Ladd had a stellar rookie season on the Champ2 circuit in 2007, where he won one race in Augusta, Ga., and finished third overall on the circuit. He was slated to move up to the top division (ChampBoat) this year.

“Our hearts and prayers pour out to Kelly, Kori and the entire Ladd/Pater family,” said Mike Schriefer, ChampBoat series director. “Kevin was one of the most impressive young drivers we had in the sport, period. He had it all, talent, good looks, great work ethic, and he was truly a great ambassador to our sport as a whole.”

The family requests that donations be made to the Kori Ladd College Fund, care of Kelly/Kori Ladd, 11920 N. Main St., Whitmore Lake, MI 48189.
