The first of a new FX series lineup from Formula Boats, the 290 FX4 was unveiled at Formula's northeast showroom in Freeport, N.Y. The Decatur, Ind., company developed the lineup, which also will include a 310 FX5 and a 350 FX6, to provide a unique melding of its successful Sun Sport design with its performance-focused FASTech image.

Created by Formula's exclusive designer John Adams, the 29-footer features a stunning cabin with an Ultraleather U-shape lounge, a full entertainment center and a sizable head compartment to starboard. In the cockpit, the boat has a dual helm seat with a bench seat across the way to port. One end of the starboard-side U-shape lounge backs up to the helm seat and the other end backs up to the aft-facing lounge flanked by a storage compartment to starboard and the port-side transom walkthrough to the swim platform.

The boat's starting price is $231,200 with twin MerCruiser 377 engines and Bravo Three drives, but Formula Boats has a Demo Days discount in the works that brings the price as low as $160,000. The 290 FX4 includes a wraparound windshield and Imron FX graphics. And from the cupholders and navigation lights to the dash panel and the swim platform, Formula adds plenty of LED lighting touches to make the boat glow at the docks.
