Heading into 2010, it looked as if the Formula One tunnel boat racers we’re finished with the F1-ChampBoat Series because they hadn’t been paid consistently from the organizers. The racers, along with three veterans in the sport—Greg Jacobsen, Bob Schubert and Wayne Worthy—re-established the Formula One PROP Tour, which was formed by the late Gary Garbrecht in 1995.
“Right now we are actively working with several sights for events in 2010 and 2011,” Jacobsen said. “The Formula One PROP Tour is being built with bricks and mortar—based on a realistic vision for where our sport is and where it can be in the future.” But the F1 ChampBoat Series has not gone by the wayside. In fact many teams that called for the new direction, are expected to race at some tour events, which include a few tentative dates, as well as a race in Louisville, Ky., in August and one in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the end of September. The event that really has people excited though, is the series finale in Miami at the Miami Marine Stadium course. “I don’t see any reason why we can’t all play together this year,” said Fairchild, who is looking forward to a busy 2010 season. “The bottom line is we’re going to go where there’s a race—just as long as it meets the requirements of the drivers.” Website: www.f1prop.com; www.champboat.com 2010 Formula One PROP Tour Schedule
