Frisini Motorsports Acquires Sonic Powerboats PDF  | Print |  E-mail

With its acquisition of Spectre Powerboats earlier this year, Frisini Motorsports has already made quite a name for itself in the business by reigniting the brand and updating the company’s lineup of catamaran models. And not only is the company, which is owned by Tony Frisina, hard at work on a new 30-foot V-bottom and 43-foot cat it plans to debut at the 2011 Miami International Boat Show, Frisini Motorsports recently announced that it has acquired Sonic Powerboats from CSI Marine Group.

logo_frisiniAccording to a press release, Frisini Motorsports plans to re-brand the company’s full line of lake and offshore boats and add new models to the lineup. The sale of Sonic was finalized in late August and Frisini Motorsports has already started production of some entry-level boats.

“Sonic is world renown for building a quality and comfortable-riding boat so we will continue to build on that heritage and have lowered pricing on all the models,” said Frisina, who is looking forward to manufacturing the Super series by Sonic, which includes boats from 26 to 45 feet with roomy cabins as well as amenities for boaters who demand only the best.

The company also made recently with the purchase of Typhoon Service Center from marine industry veteran Bob Christie. The sale of the New Jersey facility was finalized last week and Christie will remain with Typhoon for a period of time to assist with the transition. Most of the Typhoon staff is expected to stay in place, according to a New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club release.

“The Typhoon facility is a great operation and is located in the heart of New Jersey’s performance world,” Frisina said. “I look forward to making the great waterfront facility even greater.”
