Ilmor Marine Opens North Carolina Plant PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Ilmor Marine, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ilmor Engineering Inc., shipped the first boat engines manufactured in its new Mooresville, N.C., marine engine manufacturing facility at the end of June.

ilmor_725engineThe 50,000-square-foot marine engine assembly and test facility has been in the plans since 2008 and is projected to assemble up to 15,000 engines per year. Paul Ray, president of Ilmor Engineering Inc., called the grand opening of its manufacturing facility: “A great day for our marine division,” professing that the new facility will allow Ilmor Marine “to expand into higher-volume markets, with an initial focus upon our key partner, MasterCraft, the leading manufacturer of luxury performance inboards.”

Ilmor’s first assembly-line offerings, named the “Ocean Performance Series,” will include both freshwater and saltwater inboard offerings assembled with Ilmor-developed parts and systems. Keep an eye out for Ilmor’s inboard 5.7L, 6.0L and 6.2L engine variants based upon General Motors’ industry standard.

“We created an assembly plant that is very much in keeping with Ilmor’s other facilities around the world—both from a quality perspective and from a technology point of view,” said Ronald A. Brown, president of Ilmor Marine. According to Brown, “performance, high quality and strong customer support” are at the top of the Ilmor priority list, and customers should expect to see a continual focus on those ideals as Ilmor continues to expand into new areas of marine business.
