Powerboat P1 Management is unveiling the new P1-28 SuperStock class race boat during the Autosport International at the National Exposition Center (NEC) in Birmingham, England, this week.

p1_28ssThe P1-28SS boat, which has been in development for the past eight months according to P1, incorporates the latest technology in safety, hull design, digital telemetry and data acquisition. At 28 feet in length and capable of speeds up to 75 mph, P1 says the new outboard-powered boat is designed to make powerboat racing more accessible than ever before. It also can be converted for recreational use with relative ease, according to P1.

The official launch at the NEC is scheduled take place on the P1 SuperStock stand in Hall 6 on Thursday, Jan. 13. P1 also will be updating progress on negotiations for a new engine deal to power the P1-28SS. At the same time, P1 is scheduled to announce the provisional race calendar for this year’s SuperStock Championship in England.

A number of high-profile powerboat racers will be in hand for the launch, including Shelley Jory-Leigh, and 2010 Powerboat P1 SuperStock champions John Wilson from Grandstand Motorsport and Rupert Pugh from Heights of Abraham.

Held at the NEC since 1991, Autosport International is an annual preseason motorsport event that covers more than a million square feet and features every level of racing under one roof.
