Dedicated to building the hottest custom boats in the world, Frisini Motorsports announced it has started production on the Spectre catamaran lineup. The New Jersey-based company purchased the molds for the offshore boats earlier this year and plans to build upon the racing heritage and quality of construction the catamarans are known for.
Jay Pilini, who founded Spectre in 1993, will run the operations from the manufacturing facility in Pinellas Park, Fla. He said he is looking forward to being involved in the go-fast scene once again and having the wherewithal to produce the boats at the highest quality. (Pilini sold his catamaran molds in 2006 to focus on the fish-boat market with Spectre Sportfish.) “I’m excited about working with Frisini Motorsports as the company brings heavy financial backing to Spectre and is dedicated to bringing the Spectre name back to the top of the boating world again,” Pilini said. “Everything I’ve heard so far has been really positive. Fortunately we have a loyal customer base.” Pilini added that production began in February and two new models are already in the tooling shop being built, including a new 32-footer and the 428SC, which will most likely make its debut at the 2011 Miami International Boat Show. “I saw a big gap in the market for a reasonably priced performance boat,” said Frisini Motorsports Owner Tony Frisina in a press release. He also owns a 36 Spectre. “Performance boat prices have soared out of control over the last few years and it’s time to make this great past time affordable again.”
