The 2010 season marks a special year for Super Boat International (SBI). Not only is the world’s most recognizable offshore race—the Key West World Championships in Florida—celebrating its 30th anniversary in November, two other SBI events will mark the 20th annual running.
“We are very excited about the 2010 season,” said John Carbonell, who founded SBI in 1989. “SBI is returning to some great cities we have had for 20 years or more … along with new sites such as Michigan City, Ind., and Florida’s Cocoa Beach and Clearwater. And Sarasota has always been a great race site and the fans really love it there. Racers are always excited to return each year to support the Suncoast Charities for Children. “This year SBI will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Key West World Championships,” he continued. “Key West is the premier offshore race venue. Everyone loves coming to Key West for the weeklong event. We expect this to be the best year ever, and we invite everyone to come party and meet up with you favorite race teams.” A new addition to the SBI schedule this year is the first race at the Space Coast beaches in central Florida since the early 1990s. With a great location in Cocoa Beach, Fla., the Super Boat Thunder On the Beach is expected to give a boost to the area’s tourism. Website: www.superboat.com 2010 Super Boat International Schedule
